Contemporary information systems have substantial technical components., most of the various technologies that are deployed in the information systems of modern organisations are studied by dedicated disciplines, such as computer engineering, telecommunications, networks, databases, human computer interfaces and others. It is important to understand and to have a degree of working knowledge of fundamental information technologies. For example, you cannot learn to structure and manage information systems development projects that involve the production of software without having some knowledge of programming.
