The following list shows the number of academic credits required to gain both undergraduate and post-grauduate degree awards at AUOL. Credits are awarded through a combination of study programmes offered and vary according to course module, dissertation or accreditation of prior experiential learning.

Students may transfer to AUOL at any time during their studies. All transfer students who intend to receive a degree from AUOL must complete at least 10 credits at AUOL (except for APEL based degrees). Courses taken at an other recognized institution will be accepted for credit toward degrees at the American University of London and are graded according to that institution’s grading system and are converted or equated to AUOL grades. Please note that all documents must have been received by the Registrar before credits can be evaluated.
N.B. The American University of London evaluates and awards academic credits for prior experiential learning based on guidelines recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) , New York Board of Regents Program on Non-collegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI), Council for Advancement of Experiential Learning (CAEL), Defense Activity for Nom-Traditional Education (DANTE), American College Testing (ACT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and all recognized credit sources.
